i use videora ipod converter, it converts dvd and avi files, and you can even choose the levels of quality and size, it's a really nice and simple program.

Also if you want to get videos off youtube, straight away in mp4 files in high quality, just use www.file2hd.com, copy n paste the youtube url onto it, and it gives you the file straight away. no fuss, no muss. Really handy if you can't find a tune on itunes or limewire but it's on youtube as a video

oh and if you wanna rip dvds to convert into mp4, use claddvd.net, it's a piece of piss, and rips the movie as one big vob file without any messy chapter malarky
